Position Scope:
The Field Service Technician position consists of a technician, who will travel to customer sites to perform hands on field service support on customer site. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Site installation of SEMCO energy recovery wheels
- Factory start up of SEMCO energy recovery units
- Coordinate and install SEMCO controls on energy recovery wheels and units
- Evaluate and inspect SEMCO energy recovery wheels, as well as competitor wheels for function and operation,
- Serve as a reference point for hands on knowledge & experience with desiccant wheel products
- Possess comprehensive product knowledge as well as project exemplary customer service as he/she will often interact directly with end user customers, installation contractors, site design engineers, as well as factory representatives.
- Identify and report back sales opportunities for future Service department growth
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on field service & technical support on location.
- Provide documented feedback to product engineering & manufacturing regarding product quality, reliability, serviceability, and performance.
- Provide technical support, customer service, and troubleshooting assistance (in person & via telephone) to both internal SEMCO personnel and external customers, contractors, etc.
Major Tasks:
- Perform Field Service Trips - travel to job site location and perform field service duties as required, including start-ups, repair & warranty service, problem resolution, retrofit measurement & installation, performance testing, customer training, etc.
- Assist with AQS technical service, troubleshooting calls, & questions from all types of personnel, both internal & external to SEMCO.
- Prepare detailed field service and start-up reports which thoroughly document the service work performed and information obtained; distribute these reports to appropriate personnel.
Description of Authority:
- Make decisions regarding traveling, purchasing, and labor charges; in the interest of providing high quality field service & customer service while balancing the cost to SEMCO.
- Provide feedback to AQS engineering & manufacturing & help make decisions regarding product design and assembly methods.
- Provide feedback to Service Manager & help make decisions regarding claim resolution, customer service / product issues, and service scheduling.

Position Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years experience in HVAC service or related industry, or, Associates in HVAC or Electrical Design.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills of electrical / mechanical / HVAC systems.
- Excellent hands-on electrical and mechanical ability.
- Willing to travel 90%, often on short notice.
- Excellent communication & customer service skills.
- Good understanding of HVAC electrical & mechanical system design.
- Good computer skills - able to use Microsoft office. (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Must be self motivated and able to work at times with little or no supervision.
